Today I Found Out: Angela Merkel, Chancellor of Germany, has a PhD in Physical Chemistry

Physical Chemistry is the study of molecules at the macro level, the physics of chemistry, the study of the behavior of molecules in bulk involving force, energy, thermodynamics and time.

Maybe the Chancellor's reaction to unwanted physical contact was more a snub to a President with only a Bachelor of Arts in History? PhD's can be so pretentious at times.
