According to this latest report from NASA, 2013 was the seventh warmest year on record, tied with 2006 and 2009. The average temperature on the planet is now 1.1 F degrees warmer than it was in 1950, and a total 1.4 F degrees since 1880. This increase in temperature is not attributed to solar activity, position of the solar system along the galactic plane, volcanic activity, nor nefarious aliens prepping the planet for colonization, but simple greenhouse gas accumulation, specifically carbon dioxide.
