TIFO - The Origin of the Word "Mob"

The word mob is an abbreviated version of the latin term "mobile vulgus", which roughly translates to "fickle common people", or "shifting general population" depending on your command of Latin.  A government of mob rule is called an Ochlocracy.  The abbreviated "mob" originates in the 1680s during the "Glorious Revolution" when King James II of England was overthrown.
